Yesterday I was having a problem with my trailer lights. Evedently I blew a fuse for the running lights in the under dash electrical distrubution box.
I replaced the fuse and now the running lights work. But now my signal lights do not work.
Checked all the other fuses and they are good. 4 way flashers work.
Under the steering col. looked for a seperate flasher relay but do not see one.
Haynes manual shows there should be two flasher relays for the 4 ways and signals. There is just one big yellow one.
This is for a '99 Ranger XLT 4X4 4.0 ltr.

On the older trucks there is one on each side of the fuse panel yours might be different but worth looking.

What I want to know is, what is the exact symptom for which you say your turn signals don't work?

I say this because, if my experience is any indication, you could have a bad/corroded wire in the trailer harness, a bad connection, or a bad ground.

However, you could also have a bad switch. I have a similar problem to yours, where my turn signals don't work with the brake lights on. However, after bypassing the brake switch (the switch on the brake pedal arm), and turning on the turn signals, there was nothing wrong to indicate a problem. So, because I isolated the brake pedal switch, it turned out to be the problem.

Have you had any other issues regarding your turn signals not working? Also, trail B2 is right--some of the older trucks have two signal flasher relays, one on the bottom of the fuse panel, and the other at the same corner on the other side of the fuse panel.

BUT, since you blew a fuse, I'd check to find the reason why you blew the fuse first, otherwise you might just end up blowing the fuse again. And be back at square one.
