Turbo swap!

Sweet build! I'm starting my '88 X-cab project once I finish with my Civic project I am currently working on. I picked up an '87 Turbo Coupe locally and am hoping to start the initial swap work around the beginning of March.

I'd love to start it tomorrow, but 1990 Honda Civics are amazing vehicles for looking great on the outside and hiding all sorts of cancer in interesting places. Hand forming replacement sheetmetal is a slow process.

This is my first foray into the four wheeled turbo world. I've done some work on turbocharged motorcycles, so hopefully what I learned there will carry over. I am going to stick with the stock tune at first and then try and get up around the 250HP mark once I get things figured out. It'll be interesting since this is going to be used as a truck and not a sporty type of vehicle. Hopefully it will haul my camper and tow my tandem axle car hauler without self destructing! :icon_rofl:

Hey Guys I got my truck back on the road! I have been driving it for the past couple of weeks. It seem to be running good and smooth (as smooth as the big cam lets it) I need to order a boost controller for it pretty bad because the wast gate wants to open after 1 pound of boost....i guess the springs is just really weak.

Just make one. I made one for my turbo subaru legacy and it worked great ! You just use plumbing piping and a spring with a ball bearing on the end and a bolt... kind of hard to explain, just google making a manual boost controller :headbang:

I saw someone make a boost controller out of a air regulator. I guess you can adjust the amount of Vac/boost the waste gate sees and it changes the boost.

Very nice work. I thought at first you bought the motor, somehow,from Ford Racing, but it's the same one from the coupe.

You are a master, man!!!!!!!:icon_thumby::icon_thumby:

Thanks guys...and i'm running 2.5 inch all the way out with a super 40 Flowmaster. It's not done yet she still need to be intercooled and i would like to upgrade to a 3 inch VAM, LA3 ecu and the 3 wire O2 sensor.

That is the most V8ish I have ever heard a 2.3 sound at idle.

When you said "motor sport" cam, what one did you mean?

Is it the A237?

I'm not real sure what kind of cam it is i traded a guy for it. It came out of a SVO and he did not have the card with it. He just told me he thought it was a motorsports. I wrote the number off the back of the cam down i just have to find it.

OMG Drooooool!!!!

Love the Airy exhaust sound!!!

Damn good work man. Love the color and attention to detail. Makes want to twin screw mine even more.
