Hello Forum members, I have used your site for a while just reading previous posts and have a pretty good question and need some help with what I have.
Let me explain what I need before giving the details of the truck as it makes more sense that way.
I have some sort of auto tranny that is computer controlled and is complete utter garbage slips in first two gears and doesn't shift at all when its supposed too. I want to put a 5 speed stick in with a hydraulic clutch and it needs to be a stage 3 clutch from Stingerperformance
The truck is an 87 ranger, uses a 2wd transmission but has a divorced transfer case and 4wd solid axle swap out of a Toyota 4 runner. The motor is insane with flat top forged pistons, hardened valve seats, cam, lots of porting, huge injectors, huge fuel pump, huge turbo, stand alone efi you tune with laptop etc, etc. I did all the work myself no hired hands on this one. not stock by any means.
My questions;
1) are the splines any different on the performance clutch vs ranger trans clutch
2) can I use a later model (88+) trans so I can use the hydraulic clutch
3) is there a company or place I can get the pedal and stuff for the swap?
4) what flywheel should I get as well?
The truck is insanely fast! if you hit the gas goin 50 down the freeway uphill it jumps to 80.
Once the trans is in and I replace the head gasket (for the 4th time) I'm gonna take it to be dyno tuned so hopefully I don't blow the head gasket again.
