i just put a turbo on my 1990 2.3 ranger its running super rich no mater what i do. here is what ive got done to it

34lb high impedance injectors
aeromotive adjustable fuel pressure regulator
.57 ar trim turbo 8-10psi max boost
walbro 255lph fuel pump

truck ran fine before swap

this is my first turbo swap, all the research i did says it should run fine with this low boost setup. So far it wont stop running super rich and shitty. Turbo isnt building much boost but im thinking this might have to do with the rich running condition any info or help would be greatly appreciated, this is my dd and i have two more weeks to get this running right.

What method are you tuning with? Both fuel and spark need to be much altered from stock.

What computer are you using in your ranger?

i think the 34 pound injectors are too much for it? now are the stock injectors about 14-17 pounds? if it 14 lb i could see it as a upgrade going to 17-19 lb injectors most of those kit are built for stock motors. and to prevent detonation in the motor from a lean condition or over heating you run more fuel is one of the tricks. others are t-stat like colder temp and another is retarding timing?? if you got adjustable cam gears you can retard the timing. for low boost levels by the way are you just running the stock computer that maybe another problem stuff like mega squirt computers and a 2 bar map or maf sensor are needed. just depend on how far you are willing to go...

i found out the boosting issue, it was a bad turbo on the compressor side. the company just sent me a new one. witch i put on today with the stock 17lb injectors it runs so much better than before. i am running the stock ecm with mass air i have a boost referencing adjustable fuel pressure regulator. im only running 8psi. been driving it around today and the only problem i have come into is that it dies every time i come to a stop. Any ideas on why it does this, thanks

Idle Air Control valve.

Either that, or your idle air speed isn't set completely right. Check and redo your idle speed adjustment, then see how it runs for you.

Btw, 8 psi can get to be a little much for stock pistons...

thank you for the response, i figured it out today i had t move the mass air sensor to right in front of the throttle body
