what do you think about this? i like the idea. mild boost through an efi for street use. any ideas what this would take?

Ive made the 2.8 into a EFI TBI unit, took 10 hours to do it. Just have to know how to do wiring and how your going to supply the fuel, etc..... but my problem was couldnt get the fuel consumption down enough but I was using a 3.8 computer. You can use a 2.9 computer and wiring harness and a few other things off a 2.9 and hook it to the 3.8 TBI unit and get it to work fine. But if going turboed, using the 3.8 setup may keep you from leaning her out.

But you could go high dollarr and maybe use an aftermarkt setup to fine tune the computer, not for sure though.

If you use the search button here, then you can find my build thread and my dads of when we did ours. We have since then converted over to the Duraspark setup due to not having the time to figure out how to tune the fuel consuption down without redoing alot of things.

i been lookin at a tbi setup, but im not shure how well that would work with forced induction. im thinkin efi. you know fuel rail, throttle body, all that. mabey small twin screws cuz its a v6. just ideas so far. im gunna build it on a stand first then install. get it all tuned and broke in first.

what about the holley pro-jection2 tbi kit? i have used them, they are $1000 new but are all over the classifieds around here for around $300.00. extremely simple, and adjustable

affordablefuelinjection.com

ive heard nothing but good things and ive emailed them a few times, and he can make a efi kit for a 2.8 with factory tfi coil to control timing for about 1100 bux. complete kit and installs in about 6 hours

i called affordable when i did my truck.
affordable only makes wiring, all hardware and sensors you need to provide for yourself, you will also need to provide whichever throttle body/intake manifold you need as well, so $1,100 to do what any person can do with a stock harness and detailed wiring diagrams seems a bit steep. when you will also be another $300+ in hardware after that. hell for that amount you could get the holley commander kit that will run any efi, up to 16 injectors sequentally and any electronic auto trans and is self-learning on fuel curves to boot. not to mention that kit is designed to run with boost and utilizes a wide-band map sensor (most stock map sensors peg out at 0-1lbs of boost) that kit is $1500

I spent about $150 total on my TBI setup I had and most of it was plug and play. The only splicing was the wires that com out of the driverside firewall to the TFI moduel were solidered to the 3.8 harness, repctive wires going where they should, and only three were spliced. But it was over fueled but if a turbo was hooked up like a blow through carb setup, they could even eachother out. If your not going with a turbo setup, use a 2.9 harness and computer, it will work best or better with a turbo, just run the 5.0 injectors if you need to for more fuel.

^^^ see he efi'ed it for $300. the fact is that "affordable" fuel injection is anything but

I got lazy and didn't want to tune it so I durasparked mine. I may return to the setup one day.
