So my friend in his 1994 4L ranger A4LD tranny is curious what all he needs to tune his truck. I was told he could just bring it to a dyno shop and he wont need anything besides cash. Other people told me he might need a chip?

the factory computer is non adjustable as much as i know

I don't think your going to squeeze much more out of that engine just by reflashing the module. They have the Jet chips but they are stupidly expensive. Other than that I don't know. My recommendation is just to not fix what isn't broke.

forget the chip, throw a nice throaty exhaust on it, leave the stock intake (if your not gonna be crossing deep water) and just tune up the motor normally. Its a 94 4.0, your not gonna make any power unless you tear into it and start with a block, stroke it, and finish with a charger. Pipe dream
