so ive decided its time for a tune up. now my question is what should i be doing? i know i need new plugs. Do I just get the motorcraft AWSF-32pp that are recommended? Im also planning on changing my oil. What else should I replace? Fuel filter was replaced about 5000mi ago.

and plug wires and maybe the fuel filter and like you said oil and running some seafoam thorugh the brake booster and some in the gas tank and you might want to check your air filter to see if it needs to be replaced and also trans fluid if its an automatic

Plugs, wires, fuel filter, air filter, pcv, and clean MAF.

how do i know if my wires need to be changed? They look fine and theres no sparking or anything at night

sno guy.. Your motorcraft plugs should last many thousands of miles over 100,000. Your wires Should last the same as the plugs in any climate, or use.
Most guys seem to think plugs need changing when they are doing just fine.. You will know when the plugs and wires need changing as the engine will be missing under hard use.
Before messing with the engine think a while about the last time these things were done. You will have no gain from changing plugs ahead of their time.

i bought the truck a little over a year ago so i dont know when these things were last done. We pulled a few plugs and they werent terrible but the gap was about double what it should be. Ive been getting some pretty crappy gas mileage, rough idling, and its thrown the cel once or twice for a misfire.
should also note that the engine has about 128,000 miles on it, and the plugs in it currently have the pg for cylinders 1-3 and p for 4-6. not entirely sure if replacements plugs have the same suffix, or if they are all the same.

If the gap is that big change them, the interval is 60,000 miles on the plugs I think. I change mine whenever I feel like it sometimes its every third oil change, I pull one out and if I feel like changing them all I do. But basically the other guys covered all the basics as far as tune up, but one other thing you might think about is differential fluid change and also you could lube up any grease zerts while your at it and clean the IAC. I tune up my cars way more than need be but im anal like that and i'm ok with it:)

The 'pg' and 'p' plugs practically guarantee they're factory installed
on the Ford assembly floor, and are original. I've never seen a pg plug
available on the aftermarket.

With that wide a gap, I'll bet they've never been out of the engine either......

It should run much better with new plugs; and get the double plats
if you're going to drive it another 100K.

Hey dude.....personally, I always change for new plug wires anytime i change plugs..Its likely not needed,(very efficient these days) but, its a good feeling of security knowing theres some new parts on the truck...Its not like your dropping a money load...
Plugs(all same) / plug wires / oil / oil filter ... plus antifreeze, NO water with cold days arriving!!
TIPS...i guess change oil/oil filter before the plugs?? keep new and new together, but it dont matter haha
TIPS...Only change 1 plug and wire at a time, or you'll be back here looking for the correct firing order on the plugs...
it'll be a totally different truck gl !!
