Tube doors for gen1 b2-rangers

I personally think that tube doors look like ass, and that half doors look much better. Just my 2 cents.

Seeing that you live in Cali. You know the benefit of having extra air in the car during the summer. I'm in central fl where it gets 98 degrees and feels like 1fn10, looks matter to me so it has to please me when I'm done, I plan on riviting some sheet metal or expanded metal on the outside and painting them to match my trucks pattern. But I read while looking it up that the early s-10 blazer tire carrier can be used but what about a b2 carrier? I took mine off as I am putting my spare on my roof.

I don't think a tire carrier would look good at all.... Get an extra set of doors cut the top off and plate them...

here is mine. kinda ugly, but they work. build them in a day with a 110 wire feed. and 32 dollars of scrap steel, junk yard hinges, and barn door latch's.

also cut up a set of full doors. worked well. BUT the near vertical edge on the back side caused for a goofy wind to punch me in the face at any speed more than 20

I did half doors too. I have been thinking about tube doors as well, but I think if I did build a set, I would skin them in clear plexi glass.

these were just some crap ones i built 2 years ago, they worked ok but now I just pull the doors off completely and go that way. I might dig them out of the scrap pile in the back yard and bring them back to life.

see im making my origonal doors removable. and i still want smothin there but nothing like a full door, i like the half doors that andreas629 made. and i would make interior panels too, but i still want tube doors for those hot days out wheeling! as soon as i get some specs done and draw a sketch ill get some pics up

i've seen the discussion thousands of times, the biggest thing you should remember, doors add a lot of rigidity to the truck, without doors, the frame and body will flex much more... so what i would do is make a half door, and fill in the bottom half with tubes... i made these pics a while ago...

start with a full door

remove the center of it, leaving the outer part intact, the part that's going to press up against the frame, and give some rigidity...

with all that gone, this door is going to be strong in some aspects, but still be rather flimsy... so i would add in some tubes in a manner like this... depending on how many tubes you put, you can use larger or smaller tubing...

See I thought of doing that under the outer skin! That way I have tube doors on the inside and looks like half doors on the outside, and somehow keeping the factory latch and release handle on the inside. Shaved handle on the outside.

the way i would do it, i would do a hybrid between them, i would take a set of newer jy doors, because the latches in them are all in 1, it's all incorporated into one little module, and from the outer handle to the module is a rod about 4 inches long, if that... i would trim the door, as much as possible to leave the handle still there... kinda like this:

i would fill it in, like andres has, then start building your cage deal...
