So I would like to do a small lift or level. I am stuck on what is the total cost for each. For eample you buy leveling springs and then you need shocks or you buy a body lift and you a shifter extention.

It would be great to be able look at the total costs for leveling, a Rough Country 4" lift or a body lift so I can make the best choice.

Any input would be great. Thank you. RS

Check Ebay, Bro. I was on there yesterday for a friend and we ordered a kit to level it and it was about $139...from Springtech. Coils and lift block set up. That was for the 83-87 Rangers. I have Springtech front coils and I love them...had them on for a long time now.

You only need a shifter extension if you have the M50d, which you probably dont with your '88... You probably have a FM146, which doesn't have an extension, you just live with the shifter being closer to the floor.

You can get 2" blocks for super cheap at a wrecker - they came stock in 4x4 Rangers. For coils, You could pick something up online, or maybe get some Explorer coils from a JY - that might be a stiffer ride than you want though.

Thanks for the input.

Maybe I asked the question wrong. I want to see how much each option will cost so I can spend my money wisely. So I am trying to figure out what all is needed for each route and then I can price it out and move forward.

Thanks. RS

Okay... Well, a leveling kit is, as stated by Straycat, around $140 off ebay.

A body lift is around the same price, and comes with everything you need.

I would advise agains't the rough country lifts, they are pretty weak compared to others, and have other problems - holes dont line up right, they give you 4" blocks for the rear (most people dont like large blocks... for that much lift most people would use add-a-leafs and shackles along with a small block if needed)

If you want that much lift (4"+) spend the extra money on name-brand stuff, like Skyjacker or James Duff.

Ok I think I have the numbers. Please let me know if I am missing anything. Also my stock springs need to be replaced.

Body Lift
Stock springs $100
BL kit $ 125
Total = $225

Leveling Springs
RC leveling springs $140 with shipping
Shocks $150
Camber adjusters $50
Alignment $80
Total = $420

RC 4” lift kit
Kit $495 with shipping
Camber adjusters $50
Brake lines $50
Alignment $80
Total = $675

Thanks. Rick

Could you run the coil spacers under the front springs with blocks under the rear? Theres a 2" kit on ebay with metal not rubber spacers for around $100 then you could do the 3" body lift and have it 5" total lift for under $350 if you use your current springs. Just throwing another option out there.

id do 2" spacers under the front coils and some belltech shackles on the rear, thatll set you back around $150, less if you make your own spacers. you wont need longer shocks but if you plan to use your suspension to its fullest i would recomend them.

If you are replacing your springs, even at stock height, you'll need an alignment. And if you have to replace the springs, I wouldn't waste the money on stock height.

Leveling Springs
RC leveling springs $140 with shipping
Shocks $150
Camber adjusters $50
Alignment $80

You wont *need* adjustable camber bushings, when you get an alignment they will have to change your camber bushings, but they can replace them for about $5 a pop, with ones that just have a different angle than what you have now.

The cheapest route would be the junkyard.
I would get Ranger 4x4 blocks, and Explorer coils. Use washers as a spacer to level out the front end if the explorer coils arn't enough, if they are too much, add a belltech shackle to the back end. You could also get shocks out of the JY, but I wouldn't unless you cant afford new ones.

Blocks, coils, belltech shackles, and some washers should only cost about $100, and get you 2-3" lift. Then just add the $80 alignment.
