Does anyone know if it is worth putting true duels on a 05 3.0, or just a y pipe or cat back single exhaust. I like duals but the 3.0 is such a small motor I am not sure true duels or duels in general would be good on it, without sounding like a rice burner.

From what I have heard I think that dual cat-backs sound real nice on the 3.0. It certainly doesn't have that V8 tone but it doesn't sound like a civic neither. either way it sounds nice in my opinion.

it depends on what you mean by being "worth" it. no aftermarket exhaust systems (dual or single) on any stock ranger is going to increase power (despite what some people will claim)...the factory exhaust is more than enough for a stock motor. so if your going for anything other than sound, leave the stock exhaust on.

split dual exhaust adds weight, cost, and complexity to the exhaust, but still sounds like single exhaust...not worth it at all in my opinion.

true dual exhaust has a unique tone that i absolutely love, one of my favorite mods on my ranger.

imo...not worth it to do true duals on a 3.0 unless your forcing air into it...like a turbocharger or supercharger.

sorry was half asleep whe ntyping I meant dual not duel, and by worth I mean I would like the sound but I don't want it to sound ricey, I have watched vids on youtube of dual 3.0's and most sound like a civic, my old 2.3 with a single in dual out sounded like a civic. I guess the real question is wether it would be better to put a single in dual out on a 3.0 or just true duals.

see above post.

split dual exhaust sounds the same as single, but adds the weight, complexity, and cost of duals.

ive never heard a rice burner that sounds anywhere near my truck. im not going to claim it "sounds like a v-8" because thats a physical impossibility...but i love the music that comes from those pipes.

if you could make yourself a true dual flowmaster you would have one classy sounding ranger

OK I will bite Wicked_Sludge, what brand of exhaust/mufflers/pipes are you using to get this "Exceptional Sounding Ranger".

this is a pretty old thread so i doubt if Wicked will respond, hes been missing in action for a few months now.
