Truckspotters

Ya know how I said I wasn't gonna clutter this with a daily report... well i saw one today that made my head turn - unfortunately I was driving and I missed my turn, so had to drive around the block...
headed straight towards me was a 1st gen (glass lights) in dark tan with the retro graphics that we have a separate thread about... now I have grey hair and can keep up with any of the other guys on claims to be "over the hill" but this guy had to be late 80's - little old man taking his little old lady out in his old truck down main street in the local town....
What really made my head turn was not the old guy, not the couple, not even the 1st gen it was the fact it was spotless - definitely not a farm truck or if so it was long ago and now restored to a prized retirement grocery getter.

and just cause I saw this one too, when I finished going around the block there was a black 3rd gen with the 4x4 and V6 chrome badging.... I also got to see my first in the wild STX as well later on in that same trip to town.

No pix, cause well I was driving at the time and I don't have a dashcam, sorry guys.

Yeah, I know this is “TRUCKspotters”, and its a chevy but when was the last time you saw a chevvette? this thing was even in great shape. manual transmission.

Had a buddy in high school who had a Chevette that he dropped a small block into it. We nicknamed it the shitvette!

Had a buddy in the Navy with a Chevette set up for drag racing. Dont remember the engine - some big cammed V8. But it needed and had a full roll cage and wheelie bars. That thing was nasty.

I happen to love chevettes.
One of the only bow ties I really like.
I'm sure it has to do with fun memories from childhood though.

My brother Kenny was in the Army in the early 80s.
While he was serving he met some guy and bought 30 chevettes from him.
They was all in different type conditions.

When it was all said and done that brother built a really nice chevette. Another brother built two chevettes.

A friend of one of my other brothers bought the shittiest chevette and turned it into a sleeper.
However once you heard it running you knew it was a sleeper.

My dad built my brother closest to me in age and me a go-kart using chevette rims and tires, steering column, brake system and bunch of other chevette stuff and the motor and transmission off of a 350 Honda motorcycle.

There's a guy that lives somewhere around here that has a really nice chevette.
I see it driving around town sometimes.
And sometimes I see it parked at Kroger's.
He has it painted purple it's a really nice car though.

Inspiration for the next project. I’m going to need more aluminum stock and diamond plate and Ranger axles rims and tires.

Saw this today at the store. Dig the old school paint scheme.

@Rick W
Go big or go home Work office was across the street from the Cat dealership.

I’ve been fortunate to have travelled a lot, everywhere. I’ve always been in awe at the power and vision of God, his attention to detail and beauty, His breadth in the things he provides for all species to succeed, you all know what I’m talking about

Maybe He lived across the street from a CAT/heavy-haul dealership too when he was getting started.

That truck is amazing: double jeeps, the bolt on wheels on top of the 16 wheel dollys, rear steer, and a pusher tractor from behind. I love it, but I have to stick with the first one, yours won’t fit in my driveway…

also, might be a little too much even with two Rangers…
