Battery is fine at 12v, dash lights come on, theft flashes but then goes out when key is turned to on.

When key is turned to "start" nothing happens. The dome light doesn't dim or anything. I do hear the ignition relay click.

Sound like a starter? Nothing spins or tries to spin.

Didn't die on me. It just wouldn't start after being parked 4 hrs.

won't start

Sounds like bad battery cable. Has enough conductivity to light dome light, but the draw from the starter causes a high resistance overload that trips the starter relay out.

I'm pretty sure if the theft light flashes that means your using the wrong key. is it possible that you used the wrong key?

Problem with PATS would have light on solid or flashing rapidly when ignition switch to ON. The No Crank for PATS system only with starter disable feature. You can check your owners manual. I wouldn't look to PATS right now. P1260 DTC would indicate, "theft detected engine disabled". There are separate PATS DTCs.

I do hear the ignition relay click.

If wrong key then nothing would happen. The "click" would indicate low battery, voltage lose to starter, bad rely or bad starter. 12v doesn't mean there's enough amps to turn starter. I'd try a boost first to see if engine turns over, if it turns over I'd have battery load tested. Then check connections, relay, starter. You can have starter bench tested at parts store for excessive current draw and operation.

Agreed. It could be the PATS, but more than likely your starter is bad, or you have a bad ground.

Tranny?

I don't know if the 2002 are like my 91 was but on my 91 there is a 1/4" terminal on the starter that use to come off, slide it back on and away you go.
