91 ford ranger with 93 ford explorer motor v6 4.0 4wd change fuel filters and put in lucas oil additives fuel/water additive, and fuel cleaner, truck still surges wen goin up a grade dont do it in first only in 2nd if floored, does it in 3rd and 4th but is really bad in 5th

Hmmm... I'd be looking at the plastic ducting between the air filter and throttle body for a vacuum leak (or loose clamp along the ducting). I had this exact thing happen with a toyota once, the engine would torque over, open the hole in the ducting, lose power, then lean back over (normal flexing in the mounts) and the hole would close off- power, hole opens, loss of power, over and over. It was worse in the higher gears as well.

good mention, one of my straps for that is broken so i just put it on there and tightend the other one down, and the one that isnt on there is the one that is next to the open close valve thingy, ill go put one on there

went out and put a hose clamp on it made sure they were all tight took it for a drive and it still surges :(, changed the fuel filter, put in fuel adatives, bcuz it sat with the same guess for 2 years, could it be electrical?

When is the last time plugs and wires were replaced? A misfire will show up more under a load.

umm, motor came out of a 93 explorer with 65k miles and like 5 under stock compretion, the motor was in a roll over, i pulled one of the plugs and it was fine, its got 8mm high heat racing spark plug wires. other then that i have no idea, but today when i was haulin ass up the hill to see if it was still doing it at about 3500 rpm it made a small bang kinda like a backfire, im guessing that was the misfire?. im pretty sure they r stock plugs though
