Got in my truck today to go home, and I started backing up and it died on me. Had to wait a bit before it would start again. Get on the interstate to go home finally, and as I'm driving the truck dies again. Pull to the side to wait a bit, and I start in right up after a minute or two. Anyone give me a hint on what's wrong?

most likely a sensor on it's way out, if it just dies the crank sensor stands out... but I would get the codes pulled before throwing any money at the thing.

Fuel filter plugged?

Sounds like something fuel related. Got to work this morning, and it died on me. Went out on break, and it still wouldn't start on me. Held the gas pedal in, and it started up after 10 seconds of cranking. Hopefully it's not the fuel pump, but can someone point me in the direction to how to replace it in a 2000 ranger? The easiest way i assume would be to remove the bed. Hopefully i can do it with just myself.

I just replaced my Fuel pump on my 89 Ranger, it wasnt hard just took time, i dropped the Gas Tank, having an Impact makes it super easy.

Doesn't it have to be lifted to do that? Anyways, i don't have an impact.

Now i have a new problem, the speedometer stops working randomly. This in turn stops the odometer from working as well. The speedometer seems to do fine whilst in town, but when i am doing interstate speeds, it seems to struggle in lifting up. It will bounce up and down, and eventually work. Like today, it says i only traveled 30 miles, out of the 35 that i actually traveled. Anyone know whats going on here? D:

on a '00 the speedometer is driven off of a sprocket on the ring gear in the rear axle, I'd suspect the connector or the sensor itself, you'll need a 1/2" or 13mm wrench to pull the one bolt holding the sensor to the top of the axle, you'll probably find a loose wire or something
