Truck is knocking, need help.

Well, I just noticed my thread name says knocking. It's not a knocking, I know the difference between a knock and a tick. And it is ticking. I am going to get a Mechanic that works on nothing but Fords look at it in the morning.

My Air Filter was wet/muddy, was due to me trying to start it in the water 2 times.

Let us know what you find out.

I sure will but we are having Weather warnings here where I live. So my classes got canceled and idk if the shop will be open.

Sorry for the double post, but If I can upload a video and put it on here. Would that better help you guys figure out what might be wrong with it? The shops are closed all around here bad snow storm screwed this whole week up.

Also with it ticking how it is, is it safe to drive the truck when needed?

my vote is find another motor now before its too late. water in a motor is a ticking time bomb, and just when u think u got lucky...POOOOWWWW, smoke smoke, pow, smoke

ive gotta agree with this quote, ive got a 99 2.5l that had the exact same ridiculous knocking noise that eventually got louder and louder until one day while driving on the freeway, clank clank clank... rebuild time, it ended up costing me $2000 to completley rebuild everything and it couldve costed me a couple hundred bucks if i wouldve just gotten it looked at earlier, ended up snapping one of the piston rods in two:icon_surprised:

Go to a parts store and buy an engine stethescope for about $20. Prod around and you'll figure it out. And you'll use the tool again on down the line. If it is ticking it probably isn't a rod. I'd make sure the oil is clean and I'd drive it. Worse case scenario is it gets worse and one day it comes apart. So what? Worry about a new engine then. If it shucks out get a low mileage engine from a boneyard for cheap and trade 'em out in a day.

Yea, with a wet airfilter you prolly locked it, I would pull the plugs and pump the water out, then flush it out and put in new oil.....and repeat till oil is clean/no more water drop in it.

Hopefully you didn't bend a rod or break one or blow a head gasket or crack the block........Ive been there done that.......twice
