Truck intermittently bucks/jerks under acceleration and NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. What should I be checking? Yes, the bulb that illuminates the CEL/MIL works. Just no check engine light on. When I hook my Zurich ZR 15 scanner up to my 1997 Ford Ranger xlt with a 4.0 liter have no trouble codes/DTC.

I moved this to the 4.0L forum...

A vacuum leak will mostly likely be noticeable at an idle... typically with a faster and hunting idle speed.

I would start by checking your fuel pressure.

Thanks for moving the thread. I just had noticed that I posted in wrong forum.

here is an off the wall thought:
My 94,3.0,auto would buck under hard acceleration. Put shocks in and it hasn't done since.

I am not experiencing a suspension problem. It is a driveability problem.

Seemingly was a dirty MAF and IAT sensor. Cleaned both and its running somewhat decent.

It was the MAF when my truck did this. Cleaning it helped, replacing it helped even more.
