i have a 95 ranger 4.0 for some reason it intermittly hesitates to shift up through gears and when it does the oil gauge moves around.it never completely drops or tops out just kinda floats up and down in the middle.what could be causing this? Trav

I've heard that before a oil pump goes out it will cause the oil pressure gauge to fluctuate. As for your tranny problem i would have no idea....maybe check your fluid and filter...can't hurt.

i've got the same problem would love to know to.

i just noticed that the oil gauge moves even when the truck doesnt hesitate. :dunno:

Have you checked or replaced the vacuum modulator? Also check the line & hose running from the engine to trans. If your engine has high mileage you may low vacuum causing the trans not to shift. remember, you have the least amount of vacuum under hard acceleration. hope this helps, Hoss
