Truck dies when i step on the gas

I was driving to work the other day, and I stopped at a stop sign and when i stepped on the gas my truck quit. I turned it back on and it started right up i stepped on the gas and it quit again (i did that about 4 times...) So i popped it in reverse this time to turn around it died on me when i stepped on the gas, i figured i'd try a new route to it and i let it roll back in reverse for a little bit and then i stepped on the gas and it kept running so i got my truck turned around and i let it roll forward in drive then stepped on the gas and i didn't have a problem, i guess it's when i come to a complete stop (kind of a problem on a hill....) what do you think is going on?

It sounds like the fuel pump but check all the basics first.

okay so... the truck runs fine when i get it up to running temperature but even in park... if i step on the gas it dies while its cold it feels like a fuel pump problem cold... except when the engine finally warms up it runs like it always does.

I never knew they mad v8 4.0l's, haha (your profile).

Have you looked into various temperature sensors? One may be failing, causing the computer to think the engine is already warm.

Just a thought.

Also, I'd replace the fuel filter anyway. Good maintenance, and it is only 10 bucks, and a 20 minute job (if that).
