I have a 87 ranger stx with the 2.9 auto. i got to work last night and was sittin in the parking lot looking at my cds, then i turned my headlights off and then my dome light, and right after i turned the dome light off my truck died. now it wont start. i checked it out when i got out of work and its turning over fine and has fuel so i know its something with spark. anybody have any ideas on what it might be?

Did you just look at the fuel guage or check the fuel rail. You can normally hear the fuel pump run a few seconds when you turn the key on and then depress the schrader valve on the fuel rail by where ther fuel lines go in and see if you have pressure in the system. It is a connection the same as for charging refrigerant in a home A/C or heat pump.

^ They're a known problem. Glad you fixed it! Thats a good looking truck btw.
