TRS Race Truck

Simple, cheap, durable... 2.3l manual.

Its 500 miles. Its endurance. Both the 2.3 and the 302 are fine choices. Don't forget the total budget for non safety items is $500.00
So... From my understanding at least, if members are donating to it, we should be OK on the budget end. We'd need to roll over a free truck first.

Do I smell TRS-3?

I'm with alwaysFlOoReD and you on this one... Go for durability, and it's hard to beat either. 302s are still kicking everywhere around Pittsburgh. Manual transmission may wear your leg out, but, meh. Just do squats.

I'd donate my 4.0, but where would I pee?

Nah, I'd donate my 4.0. I don't think it would be a good choice, though.

I'm daily driving my 4.0. I bought it out of a rollover with about 160,000miles on it. Put it in my race truck. Froze it with water in the block. Impeller was spun off the shaft when I tried to start it while frozen. Drove it like that for at least 1/2 dozen short races before finally replacing water pump. Then I've put into the daily I'm driving now. I've put about 50,000 miles on it since owning it. Its got a major tick that's been there since I first got it. I would have no problems running it in a race for 500 miles.

Dude I am way too stoned for this sh*t.

Explain it to me like you're explaining it to a celestial space marmot with an aura of bad ju ju

Donated parts have real world value.

I think I could put my race truck in lemons and meet the $500 limit. I would have to take off the headers and put the original exhaust manifolds back on.
That wouldn't hurt performance at all and might cure the tick too...lol.

...I mean...

Look.

I'm just going to say it.

And we all know the real answer...

What's a 2.9 that's being tossed out for a 4.0 worth?

Scrap + $25? Thereabouts.

Which

Puts us way ahead on budget

Making the 2.9 the obvious choice for the TRS-3 Ranger Station Lemons vehicle.

HE SHOOTS HE SCORES

If we find a truck with a good/repairable engine = $0 for an engine swap. $0 is cheaper then scrap + $25 no matter how high you are.

Or

Alternatively... This is my frame donor.

And I will have an old frame to go with it.

So... That's a pile of parts that adds up to a truck worth $0

With 50% of a 2.9 in it.

Or a urine soaked 4.0 in the bed.

It's got world heads, man... Can you blame me?

Just saying.

Do you know how water it will take to run a 2.9l for 24hrs!!!! (They don’t allow coolant.)

If we start with a complete truck, we can sell off the unneeded parts. That money can go back into the budget.

TRS-3 is lurking in my brain. Hopefully a 25th anniversary truck. This isn't it.

This is an endurance race. The truck should stay as stock as possible to maintain reliability. 2WD. No A4LD trucks.

There's a few different events we could do:

24 Hours Of Lemons
Gambler 500
HooptieX

Even though the Gambler 500 is known for it's Oregon event, they have them in the midwest as well. I think this year there was one in Michigan.

HooptieX

Gambler 500 - This video stars Jessie Combs, and is worth watching
If we do the 20 Hours of Lemons, it should be a 2WD. If we do the Gambler 500 of HooptieX, it can be either a 2WD or 4WD.

I'll give the truck a nice Rustoleum paint job, and do all of the graphics. I've been wanting to buy some GMRS radio's, so I could loan them for communications. I unfortunately got rid of all of my spare parts when I sold my house in Ohio.
