complaining about driving your B2.... and I have to tow mine.

Is everyone expecting the truggy to be there anyways? lol

Yo,
Do we need an orange flag to drive on the beach?
No, it's not the dunes. Certain sections of the beach are closed to vehicles between memorial day and labor day, they're marked with signs. There are many acess roads so you can get off the beach and drive to the next open section. The 38th Pl entrance (were we're meeting) and south is open all year round.

well everyone is mentioning July 23rd, but the real info that needs to be set is the starting location for the puget sound TRS members to gather at & then head south to Lacey to meet up with Justin.

I would say lets meet in the Large McDonald's / park n ride area at the end of WA512 & I-5 interchange

McDonald's 10417 PACIFIC HWY SW, TACOMA WA 98499

around 10am,leave by 10:30 to meet up with Justin at Walmart in Lacey & then set up other locations to meet up with other TRS members or RBV's head south along the way & the final dipping location needs to be set in stone.

I was involved in another forum years back pertaining to a car forum & had a gathering of over 30 vehicles that came from Canada & WA to meet up for a showing of cars & a pizza party at the final destination.

It all takes a lot of planning & with out it this wont be happening.

Is this 38th Pl entrance the one by the Hewitt House light house on the Long Beach Peninsula?

If so then here's some info.

Driving Directions to Hewitt House

Seaview is located on the SW shoreline of Washington State on the Long Beach Peninsula. It is approximately a 3.0 hour drive from Seattle, WA and 2.5 hours from Portland, OR and is a popular vacation destination on the West Coast.

FROM SEATTLE: there are several options as to how to get to Seaview. You can travel south on I-5 and then west on either 8, 6 or 4, all of which will end up connecting with 101 south which will lead you to the Peninsula (see upper right map above).

Traveling west on Highway 101 you will come to a “T” and a blinking red light (see lower map). Turn left (south) on Pacific Highway. Approximately 1 block turn right (west) on 38th Street (38th Str. becomes 38th Place), which is the Seaview ocean approach road, for 3 blocks and look for the Hewitt House sign on the NW corner of the intersection of 38th Place and "J" Place. Turn right (north) on “J” Place. Hewitt House is 1/2 block on the right.

FROM PORTLAND: take Hwy 26 to 101 (Canon Beach / Seaside) and head north to Astoria. Just prior to Astoria you will go over the Young’s Bay Bridge and through a “round-about” before turning left to take the Astoria/Megler Bridge and cross over the Columbia River to Washington. It’s about 2 hours from Portland to Astoria. An alternative route from Portland to Astoria is to take Hwy 30 which parallels the Columbia River. At the Washington end of the Astoria Bridge take a left (west) on Hwy 101. Continue west through the town of Chinook. About three miles past Chinook there will be a road on the right with a sign that reads - 101 “Alternate.” Take this right (north). You will come to a “T” and a stop sign; turn left (west – see map) and you will be heading to Long Beach and you are on Hwy 101 again. I’s just a little over 12 miles from the Washington end of the Astoria/Megler Bridge to Hewitt House and takes about 15 minutes. Traveling west on Highway 101 you will come to a “T” and a blinking red light.

Maps not pasted ,but you can visit www.thehewitthouse.com/Directions_maps_vacation_rental_long_b... to see them

according to the maps & my girlfriend she believes that headed down to Longview & then head NW on Hwy 4 would actually be the best roads & probably the quickest as its mostly I-5.

This route we can actually gather more RBV @ larger location.

If we set a 30 minute lay over at each location before headed to the next location would work out great. 30 minutes may actually be to long, maybe 15 minutes would work out better for all locations except the initial starting point in Tacoma/Lakewood area

The Walmart in Lacey/Tumwater is the location we should meet up with Justin.

Your estimated travel time is 27.67 min for 25.59 miles of travel from McDonald's to Tumwater's Walmart

Tumwater Walmart Store #3
5900 Littlerock Rd Sw
Tumwater, WA 98512

From there we could travel South on I-5 & meet up with any other RBV / TRS members at the Walmart in Chehalis.

Your estimated travel time is 24.67 min for 23.70 miles of travel

That Walmart is
Supercenter Store #2249
1601 Nw Louisiana Ave
Chehalis, WA 98532

And then from there we can continue to travel South to meet anyone coming up from the south @

Your estimated travel time is 42.32 min for 45.53 miles of travel

Longview Walmart Store #2469
540 7Th Ave
Longview, WA 98632

At this point we should of traveled & stopped for 30 minute lay over's to make the total travel time @ approximately 3 hrs. 10 min.

From there it sounds as though Hahnsb2 knows the way ,so we could then get onto Hwy 4 & follow him to the Pacific Ocean.

It should take approximately another 67 miles & 1 hr & 30 min. before getting to the Ocean. If my math, searching & calculations are correct we should be to the Pacific Ocean by 3pm

We could be there sooner if we make the lay overs be only 15 minutes which would shave 1 hr off of the travel & stopping from Tacoma to The Pacific Ocean.

101 enters Long Beach from 2 directions and meets right near 38th Pl, this should give you an idea.

hopefully Hahnsb2 will be able to meet us all @ Longview's Walmart & then he can lead us to the beach as he's familiar with the route.

I could if you want. As far as passing it on to someone from Oregon, maybe BRUTUS_T_HOG could take it?

can we get a roll call of who all will be meeting up for the trip on Saturday, July 23rd & at which location you plan to show up at. This way we can get an idea of how many will actually be at the dipping of the banner in the ocean, unless your just wanting to sign the Banner ,which would be great also.

Do you all think the lay over's should be 30 minutes or 15 minutes at each gathering location? Some may only show up to sign the banner & not want to make the trip to the Ocean.

Im gonna check into having the military newspaper ,THE RANGER,show up @ the McDonald's/ 512 park in ride to take pics even though this would be a very short notice, so that actually may not end up happening.

I will be at the first location around 9:30 & if all goes as planned with Justin, I will actually have the banner with me for any one wanting to sign it at the start of the gathering.

Hopefully Justin will get back in touch with me today so I can come get the banner from him later in the day.

I just want to sign the banner and be present for the ocean dipping, I wouldn't be putting my truck in the group shot. 200 miles in the B2 is exhausting but if you guys insist.

well its further for us up North to drive so stop your :bawling:,lol
At least we will all be able to meet each other in person & sign & dip the banner in the Pacific Ocean.:yahoo:

i could, but someone will have to come get it from me if they want to move it south. i could probably go as far as portland. unless someone from portland takes it.

i'll be meeting at the walmart in longview. someone can text me when they hit exit 36 on i-5 and i'll leave my house. PM me if you would like to do that honor lol

from your timeline that looks like it should be around 12-1 o clock?

ok so is there any one thats in the Chehalis area that we need to meet up with at Walmart? If not then we can just pass up that location. I will have a break down of arrival & departure times for both 15 min. & 30 min. lay overs & will let the majority of vote decide of which will be the choice taken. There's about a 45 minute difference of Pacific Ocean arrival between the two.

Pacific Ocean arrival could even be sooner if we don't have a need to stop @ Walmart in Chehalis.

anyone thats going to be meeting up @ the first location @ McDonald's / park in ride lot pm me your first name & a contact #

Thanks,Thomas

Ill be at the I-5/405 park and ride, A PM is coming your way
