EXAMPLE: DOORGUNNER.....CARRIED THE BANNER 18 HOURS & 765 MILES R.T. (mileage to return home is included)

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO MET THE MEMBER TO SIGN THE BANNER, P.M. ME YOUR TIME & ROUND TRIP MILEAGE.

EXAMPLE: TILIOB....MET TO SIGN THE BANNER 2 HOURS & 100 MILES R.T.

InsaneJughead thought this mileage data would be some good info to include in the history of the TRS BANNER!!!!!!

While everyone is working out the details of the next hand off, I'll wait for your info...it should really be interesting to see.

I sent a reply PM to mn_smokeater, but thought I should share it with the rest of you. Here is his message:

i just had a thought and it would take ALOT of work but would be really cool: TRS banner at the Twin Cities ranger plant with all the Generations of rangers from 83-2011 and maybe set up something with Ford as a promo type event?

Here's my response:

I think going to the Twin Cities plant would be cool, but I think getting this to the west coast first is more important.

Ford has a social media guy (Scott Monty) who is all about social media and the power of the internet (imagine that). If you want a warm welcome from Ford, get the banner to the west coast through the power of Fords enthusiasts and the internet. Get the papers/news and other forms of media to cover the progress. Once we accomplish this, schedule a spring meet at Twin Cities with the banner and give Ford a lengthy heads up (I'd take care of that).

I think these guys see this as some kind of game. It is suppose to be fun, but how many other groups have relayed an item from coast to coast personally handing it off from member to member from people they met through social media (Internet)? We're not the post office or UPS. This is a big deal and a classic example of how social media can work at a time when social media is still somewhat of a new concept.

This could be a bigger deal than most give it credit for.

With that said, we did start this just for fun. But it is really cool when you stop and think about it. We've handed this thing off to people we don't even know, have never met in person, but trust because they're a Ranger enthusiast. We're showing our strength as a community of Ranger enthusiasts. Publicity is a great thing. They say any publicity is good publicity. I bet if the media got interested in this project, Ford would eventually want to get involved just for the publicity.

It doesn't matter to me either way. We're all involved in this for the fun of it. But remember this, it has been a big undertaking with people giving their time, money, gas and trust. We're showing the strength of the Ranger community at a time when the future of the Ranger is unknown.

JIM OAKS..........exactly right!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ohhhhhhh......one other little thing.......I did the MapQuest thing to get the exact amount of miles I traveled round trip.....

It wasn't 900 miles....:bawling:....It was 765 miles!!!!

Apparrotly, I took the wriong meds & got lost for 165 miles....:icon_surprised:

Hey! It happens.....waaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhahahahhahaaaaaa

That is a cool idea, but agree that it needs to make it to the west coast and then it can venture off to other desired places.

Crap, there was probably a miscommunitacion or we decided too late that he was to take the banner which may be my fault...

Ok now for plan B, did we have a plan B...:icon_confused:

I will be delivering the banner to you most likely, but it will be a week or two before I can.

That doesn't make sense, theres no reason for you to cross a whole state to deliver, we will work something out. In the mean time, take it out and show it a good time.

what way is the banner going to go? west then up to canada then bump to the midwest and sometime in spring the event?

Edit for thoughts:

being that the factory is the twin cities a late spring should be about good time as the weather should hopefully be nice enough that the street trucks can come out and so people from the south can make it up ok with out crashing in teh snow..
