Since I left Calgary, my odometer has clicked 1400km, plus what I did with it in my truck in Calgary, and my ride home tomorrow, probably another 1000km... Do you want a total of what I've driven with it for the banner, or just what was needed, ie one way...

Oh I handed it off, only got one pic, I was in a rush to get tires from a shop that was closing, as I'm driving home tomorrow, and my trailer needed new tires... I'll post pics of the whole trip in a bit...

made it back home! 2400km since i left my house a week and a half ago, plus another 250 before that with the banner... so 2650ish total

just drove 1000km, stopping only for gas, ate in the truck while driving... crazy long drive... dumb drivers, temperature swings of 22 degrees (0 to 22*, 39*F swing) and engine temperature swings of 30*, after reaching full operating temp... (hit 121* going up a hill, then dropped down to 91 going down the hill [250F-196F]) had the overheat light pop on for about 10 seconds as i crested the hill

even saw a few things i've never seen before... i'm almost 100% sure i can say i saw the northern lights, i was about 55km outside of the next town, and about 120 out of the previous one, don't know of any settlements in the bush in that area, and certainly not anything big enough to light it up that bright, but green lights, behind the clouds, the clouds were dark, in the northern sky, they moved a little, then disappeared as i drove... never seen them before, just amazing... DG, i tried to get pics of it, but they weren't bright enough for my phone to pick them up, if i had my nikon with me, i would have pulled over on the highway to take pics...

after that, i saw what might be a UFO... a strange orange light, hovering above the forest in the middle of nowhere... it seemed to shine light outwards, but not give off much light... ie, it was dim, but the fog around it, and below it was bright... stationary, not far from me, i couldn't see a tower or anything, never seen a tower there before, and the light didn't seem bright enough to be warning planes, it was MUCH dimmer than any of the towers i had seen, and the wrong color, all of ours are either white strobing, or a definitive red, this was an odd shade of orange... i'll pull up some areal shots of where i saw it, and see if there's a tower that i have never noticed before...

took a bunch more pics... will post them probably tomorrow

You can see some crazy things in the woods. Saw a similar orange glow along Hwy 16 when I first came to Smithers. Turned out to be some sort of digester at a lumber mill that was burning up all the scrap and sawdust. Pretty spectacular sight at night.

Glad to see you got your hands on the banner. Was it good for you too?:icon_cheers:

so i just pulled up google street view, no towers in that area, the map/satellite shot is low quality right where it was, but maybe 500m west it's high res, kinda frustrating...

fairly sure i saw a UFO or something... crazy floating ball of light

It could've been someone letting off one of those Chinese candle things. (The candle with paper around it in a cylinder)

or a U FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

nah, it was perfectly stationary, not raising not lowering, not blowing or wavering (it was also a little windy and raining about 10km away...

not to mention that the closest town is a native reserve, which is so small, that i cannot find census data on it's population, even on a website specifically about it... additionally, on that same website, it gives population data for nearby communities, naming one in particular "waiparous" which has a population of 49.

the next closest is a small town/city in the 13,000 range, at 35km away from where i saw this... that location, to the best of my knowledge is not good for camping, or any other recreational activities, there may be native activity in there, but i doubt it, as it is not a reservation, though it is near several...

it was perfectly still... i was sure it was an antenna, if it only had a brighter, more red light on it, i would believe it... but i could see other antennas in the distance, almost at the horizon, and even they looked brighter from their current distance, than this, which was less than 1km away from me...

Don't you just hate it when you should have investigated something immediately....but for some reason----you didn't.

nah... i wasn't going to stop, i was tired, had been driving for 9 hours straight, just wanted to get home and chill on my couch
