TRS 2021 Fall Off-Road Round-Up

Engine's finished - hoping to pick it up at lunch. No time this week, but next weekend looks good to get rolling on it.

If I can sort out valve covers and making the headers fit properly tomorrow, the engine might actually be bolted in place this weekend.

You might want to take care of that corrosion on the head sealing surface first. ;-)

For sure. Right now I'm just mocking everything up. Biggest issue is connecting the #5 cylinder header tube to the rest of the assembly.

I responded earlier thinking you were taking about cleaning up the surface for the header connection to the heads, and just now it hit me that the pipes were on in the picture and you meant something else. The head surface corrosion you saw is actually a cork gasket.

Sponsors Announcement:

The Ranger Station is excited to announce the Midland USA and Rock Auto will be sponsoring our TRS 2021 Fall Off-Road Roundup in Attica, Indiana this year.

Midland USA:

Midland USA is providing us with a MXT115 GMRS 2-Way radio to giveaway "as well as some other giveaway items and swag items to hand out."

Looking to buy a new GMRS, CB, Weather Radio, or walkie talkie? Midland USA has provided us with discount code 'RangerStation' to get a 15% discount off of your purchase at https://midlandusa.com/ . Now there's no reason why you shouldn't have a radio to communicate with the group at the event (I have a CB and GMRS radio in my truck).

For more information on GMRS radios check out: CB Radio – vs – GMRS Radio – The Ranger Station

Rock Auto:

Rockauto.com will be providing us with a $25.00 gift certificate to be given away at this years trail ride. Always check for the current discount code listed next to their forum link on our main forum page with the different sub-forum links.

Those are definitely an intricate pair of headers?
All the better to miss that steering intermediate shaft that always seems to be in the way?

Yeah, they're a mess. There are only two options for headers. The torque monsters for about a thousand bucks with a six-ish month lead time, or the imported knock offs of those for about half the price.

What is it going in?

It -should- be. But it's not. Still moving forward, but I was optimistic. Header gaskets and longer valve cover bolts coming in the next day or so. I'm out of town all next week, so I'll get what I can done in hour or so I'll be able to get to the shop between now and Sunday, then pick back up next weekend.

Getting there. Slowly.

Header gaskets came in. I might have to order longer header bolts next. These things are THICK.

Wow this looks like fun. That's quite the hike for me to make, but not the first crazy thing I have done! I'll see what I can do considering a new job and the real possibility of breaking the darn truck again.
