Hey all, I wanted to get some opinions on some mods to the Ranger.

As you see it, it sits on 33's with a 6-inch Skyjacker Class II suspension kit.

I'm thinking that I'd like to get another 2-inches of lift.

The cheapest and easiest way would be a 2-inch body lift. They don't make one for a 1996, but I think the kits for a 1993-1994 would work.

The only obvious thing I can see between a 3-inch body lift kit for my 1996 and the 2-inch kits for the 1993-1994 (except bolt length) seems to be a rear bumper bracket. I could go with the 3-inch front kit, but I can only raise my front bumper 2-inches.

I could get new 8-inch Skyjacker springs and maybe add an add-a-leaf to the rear, but then I'd get in to needing longer shocks and all the cost wouldn't be worth the extra 2-inches.

I need to get this thing apart and repaint it for 2009, but I need to figure out this whole lift thing first.

You guys think I should throw on the bodylift, or leave it alone.

I think it would look a little better and it would give me a little more clearance.
 
95 was also the first year airbags were offered. I read last night on here that that could have been the reason for the difference in the kits. I'd say throw the body lift on it. If you do put the SJ coils on it, you could always do a Chevy 63" swap too.
 
I'm not one for body lifts... but regardless of how you get your extra inches, I think your tires are gunna look too small. Those giant front wheel wells you have will look mighty empty with the 33''s. I think it would look really good on 35''s after those few inches.

PS, love the truck, the build in ORA is what brought me here.
 
the body lift will only help with tires not rubbing so if they are go for it if they dont leave it. looks good to me im planing on lifting mine sometime here custom lift stealing coils from my dads wreaked f150 to lift the front and depending on how high it puts that use blocks for the rear
 
Leave it, if you have to do anything just trim the rear fenders to get the 35's to fit.
 
I think your truck looks great how it is. But why not just go with a 3" body lift, if they dont make a 2"? I mean its only another inch, and then throw on some 35's:icon_hornsup:

BTW, Thats the truck that got me to join this place...the truck that started it all for me. you got yourself a beautiful truck there Jim. Do you still have TRS-1? thats a purdy truck too lol

That truck is built the right way, and should stay that way.

thats true, i think add the 35's if you dont need to regear. perosnally i like it the way it is..:icon_thumby:
