Im trying to find a decent Spray Gun and Compressor for it. It seems alot I find say compatible with solvent and waterborne coatings. Im just trying to find one for a decent paint job, nothing over the top. I ended up on Eastwoods site but alot seem to be for special paint jobs. I just need a compressor and an hvlp gun that will spray correctly.

Reading up on that hvlp gun makes me think it only sprays those kinds or does it mean its compatible with those kinds also? im a paint retard without a roller and a brush lol. I assume i would want to go with an air gun over others?
If anyone could possibly list the setup they use thatd be great. id rather buy the gun and accessories then pay 399.99 for a one layer hope its good paint job...

If this is a one time deal you should check your local rent it center, renting a sprayer for half day would be cheap. Also that gun from Eastwood only has a 250 cc cup so thats just over 8 oz, your going to be stopping and re-filling constantly which means your paint is going to be flashing off and its hard to get a blend and keep it all wet. Also to answer your other question yes that gun will work with automotive paint just fine. Again if this is a one time deal rent one or look into the electric ones at home depot like Wagner or their electric hvlp guns, they are way under a hundred bucks and have come a long way since that type has come out.

i just use a guns i picked up at princessauto they are about $70 they have cheaper ones but i found they didn`t work the best. as for a compressor i just use one i made myself it will just keep up to the gun but i have an extra tank so i have never run out of air. I have sprayed base coat and clear with the two i own they worked great. Just on a side note if you are going to spray automotive paint make sure you have a good water trap most of the new paints don`t like water in the air just my 2 cents for ya

Alright, thanks for the information. I planned on painting the truck. I also would like to powdercoat the bumpers and the grille once I decided on a color scheme, but I'm pretty sure powder coating requires a special gun. I would probably go to a spray can for the bumper and grille. I planned on getting something decent because I would like to be able to keep it to do cleanups or should I want to change my mind.

Yea powder coating is a whole different ball game and you have to electrostatically charge the part when powdering it or a fluid bed, then have an oven big enough to cure it in. Black chrome bumpers would look good on your rig though.
