Welp my 07 4.6l f150 done took a shite on me. Started ticking awful. At idle and I'm thinking bad timing chain tensioners. I can't quite find the issue it's like the tick is coming from all over. Can't nail it down. U guy have any ideas. I'm sitting on my tailgate waiting on a tow.

Where are you?

I am in Danville atm

I live out in cuyahogafalls Ohio. And yes there's oil in it. Still freshly changed.

Didn't those engines have issues where the cam followers get worn/stuck then start ticking and soon after grenade basically everything in the valve train on the offending bank?

Maybe. But, even a healthy 2.9 ticks. And smokes. And pees oil out all over the garage floor. And eats coolant. I'd say the OP's best fix would be to swap it for a 3.0.

He already has the 3.0 of the F-150 world...

How fresh is the oil change?

I would prepare for the worst, and hope for the best. Assume the motors blown, but it could just be a broken valve spring. Worth a dealer diagnosis, if its bad, trade it in.

It's still a nice gold color. I just bought the truck like 2.5 months ago. I had the manifolds done and new brakes etc. I only got to drive the truck less that 1200 miles. I put maybe one tank of fuel through it.

Here's what it sounds like.

Note: engine made no distress noises prior like at all. Was buttery smooth. No tick on start up nothing.

Pull the timing cover and see if the guides are in tact also look for any play in the timing chain.. I believe that this engine is almost the same as the 5.4l. if it is the chain you should pull the oil pan and clean any debris from the pickup tube also replace the oil pump with a high pressure volume pump from melling...

just did this on my 5.4l triton 3 valve and it runs much quieter.
