Transmisson swap

Ok first i am new at the whole ford brand. Second thank you for allowing me to be part of this group. Now to the fun stuff, I have a 1989 bronco2 with the 2.9 that has taken a dump. i have located a 1999 explorer with the 4.0 that i am going to swap in (i have copied the write up in the tech articles) my question is will the transmission from the explorer work with my transfer case( the explorer is 2 wd ).

The '99 Explorer has the SOHC 4.0 right?

The 2wd explorer transmission will have the wrong tail housing, so it won't bolt up to your transfer case. You could swap tailhousings, but you'll need a 4wd trans output shaft as well.

OK I just found out that the engine is a sohc engine. What kind of problems will i have in the swap
