Transmissions

Is there anyway to find out what transmission came in a truck? The vin doesnot seem to be of help.

The transmission section of the tech library has a guide that will help you to identify what transmission you have.

I know what trans is in the truck now, i just was wondering if ther was a way to find out what the truck came with. I thought the vin might have something in it that would tell, but it doesn't. the white tag on the driver;s side door has a 5 under the word Trans, but I don;t know if that means anything or not.

the choices in '83-84 were very limited.

there was only the T-K manual but it came in both 4sp and 5sp versions.

There were two automatics, the C3 on 4cyl 2wd's
and C5 trans on everything else for automatics.
