careful

Some of these places that do the Flush normaly have to take the pan off and hook up thru the filters pick up tube. so they replace the filter at the same time.. You drain it at home all you get drained out is the pan not the Conveter too which can hold up to 10quarts. *thats either the coverter or the whole system*

I use to work at a lube shop long ago. this is how we did it back then for 120bucks.

But careful of some places.. they claim to do a total flush.. charge ya 120bucks.. and only drain the pan.

Example i wont' say the name but sounds like Iffy Pube. I took it in i get a call back 20mins later it was done and i'm thinking to my self that was way too quick. Wife woudln't listen to me i said hold on don't pay.. i wanna see under the car my self. *since i've done it before when i use to work at one i put a chalk mark on two bolts.* But they wouldn't let me under.. Isaid okay when i get home if ths isn't done right i will bring it back and you will do it right.

Sure enough got it home. they hadn't been touched. I talked to the manager nothing.. i called the main office.. Nothing. said fine.. next person calling you is my lawyer..

Well that worked.. Head office asked me to take it to a mechanic to look a the transmission to see if it had a new filter and gasket.. Of my choice.. with in reason. i said fair.. Guess what.. Old Gasket and damn near plugged up Filter.. the Lube shop ended up paying for both the real Mechanic to do the flush which ended up being more. plus paid me back for my 120bucks.

Moral to this story Always check the work

So wait, you're saying that you took it into a shop that just held your truck for twenty minutes, didn't take off the pan or anything, then called back saying they had done the job?

Yup rat bastards.. learn my lesson. instead of going some place with a coupon to save 20bucks i'll just go back to the place i use to work at least there i know they do it right.

Damn thats sketchy. I would be pissed. To be honest I change the filter.fluid every 30,000 miles since I got the truck at 60k. After the second time I put a drain plug in the pan which makes it much cleaner and easier to do the fluid change. Now it takes just about as long as an oil change to do the fluid filter. I have never bothered with a flush and it still shifts firm at 140k miles with the original 5R55E.

i just did my transmisson flush full flush after i dont know how long and its a huge diference it shifts so much better now i love it
