I'm not sure if this is in the right place but i am in Afghanistan right now and do not have a lot of time to Search. Ive got a few questions for my 88 2.3turbo ranger restoration that i am gonna be putting together when i get back home. First is there any one that makes a new Arm rest for these things? Also, Most people change to the t-5 on the turbos cuz the stock 2.3 ranger 5 speed isent the best, But the Shifter is located further back, Soooo i guess my question is does anyone know just how far back it ends up being and if so what Hurst shifter could i get away with?
 
if you're going to run a t5 then the shifter will be around the middle of the bench seat (if you have a bench). if you have buckets then It would be around the front of the space between the buckects. Didn't some turbocoupes run t-5's? If you found one of those you could just use the stock shifter, and cut a hole in the cab for it .
 
Right. On the money Turbo coupe t5 would be direct bolt. But its the same t5 as the 4 Banger mustang.
 
Ya im tracking that the t-5 from the t-bird and mustangs would match up, i was really more concerend with where the shifter was going to come up through the floor, i Really prefer the stock location of the shifter now, Id rater not shift into second and run my elbow into the back of the cab lol. But i believe i might be forced to move over to the t-5 due to the clutch options and the preformance limits as well, expecially when i get my new holset, injectors, and PiMP Computer.
 
Search around. I'm not too familiar with 2.3T swaps or the T-5 trans, but I remember seeing something about using the tailstock from an S-10 T-5.
