hey guys i just had the tranny go out on my 94 2wd 5spd ranger and found a transmission on craigslist out of a 86 2wd 5spd ranger and was just wondering if this would bolt up? I was also wondering what kind of gears i should use, the truck came with 31's but stock gears so what should i go with to prevent further transmission problems?

Your left side info says you have a 4.0. Which didn't exist on those 86's. While it may bolt up.

The question being how long before the 4.0 destroys it. The 4.0 has lots of low end torque. I honestly don't think the transmission would hold up long.

Get a M5Od-r1

Like he said, you'll pretty much want your engine to be the weakest part of your drivetrain.

With 31's it might be a good idea to swap out your gears in your differential to something a tad higher. A set of 4.10:1 would be good (I'm not completely sure on these things when you go bigger tires, so someone please chime in about this)
