I got a similar post on here. I was wondering anyone got a link for the differences in the 94 transmissions and a 96. These are both 2.3l engines and 5/speed mazda tranies. I am wondering if the speedo tailshafts are interchangable. I am thinking my 94 is a second generation and the 96 is a third generation. I have never taken a transmission apart and do not really want to learn in a short period of time. I need the truck for work and don't really have more than a weekend to replace the trans. It does not want to go into gear very easily and seems loose? It has alot of miles on it over 150k. I figured that replacement would be alot easier. The 96 is very cheap and seems to shift smooth. any help would be greatly appreciated. I just put a clutch kit in about 10k miles ago. It helped with the problems but did not fix the ones listed above. Thanks again.
