I have a 87' STX 4x4 and the trans is going, It has a FM145,truck is for sale, found a FM146 from a 89' 2.9 4x4, will this trans fit with out a lot of parts swaping, I've been quoted up to $650 for the trans that fits my ranger, I can get this one for $ 80 obo, I just want to unload the truck, I can throw it in the bed and let the next owner deal with it but thats not my style, if I could have all the parts to do the swap I would prefer that. Have been told different things, some say it will bolt up, others say it will need the donor trucks drive shafts. Any tips or ideas?

FM145 is shorter. Drive shafts need swapped, and the trans cross member needs moved forward. Additionally the hydraulic line is different.

Adsm08,so would the drive shafts from the 146 trans vehicle make the connection length wise? can the 145 transfer case be used with both set ups, crossmember is no problem, the clutch line is not ford made or does it have to be made custom, just throwing thoughts out there. Thanks JD
