Transmission swap questions 5R55e to M5OD

Hey guys, I have a 2006 Ranger 4.0 SOHC Auto 5R55E. I want to do a manual swap and have found a 1999 Ranger xlt 4.0 OHV 2wd stick. It has a M5OD non HD, I know the trans will bolt up, and im capable of that.

Im confused as to the computer systems. I checked the tech library, and i have no idea how to do this. Is there a way to get my PCM to work with a M5OD?

I can get the harness for the OHV and the computer, would plugging the OHV computer into my harness work? Ive been told the SOHC has some more sensors then the OHV motor so i dont think its a plug and play.

Also how would i be sure my cruise control still works? Thats about the only thing my computer controls from in cab, the rest is just basics. the parts truck does have the cruise system.


Both trucks are ext cab 2wd 4.0's so it should be a bolt in affair.

I am pretty sure you need a 4.0 sohc manual trans computer

The automatic computer will work but the check engine light will constantly be on.
