Ok, so on the driver side of the toyo kogyo 5sp in my BII, there are two electrical connectors. at some point in my clutch replacement last week, both connectors were inadvertently torn off. Accoreding to my haynes manual these connectors are the back-up light and the shift indicator switch.
I got the back-up light wired correctly, but the shift indicator switch appears to be throwing my truck into fits. It is only a 2-wire connector, and I have tried driving with it disconnected, connected, and connected opposite of what I think it should be, but my truck is still having issues with it. It feels as if this switch is holding my truck back while accelerating in every gear.
What exactly does this switch do? And why is my truck acting this way?
