Transmission Repair/Replacement 98+

I have a 1998 reg cab, stepside bed 2.3? 4 popper. My transmission is on its merry way out and I want to repair/replace it cheaply to last me through winter, then in spring Its getting the 5.0 as I acclimate the parts over winter.

What years/cars should I be looking at for this transmission?

Looks like I need a 95+ 4 banger, or 3.0 2wd Pre 2003?

Anyone can confirm this?
