Hey alll here is a great question for you.....Driving into work today my truck shifted fine no probs at all. Drive to another building again no probs. Then i get back into my truck and it shifts very hard almost have to yank on the stick to go to second? I have checked the fluid and thats fine needs to be changed but full of fliud. Second the fluid for the clutch is also good. I have never had this kind of probs before. So if anyone has an idea of what it is and what parts i will need. I just had the clutch replaced so the shop "should have" replaced the throw out bearing. I have been told about a slave? what can anyone tell me about that. Any help will be great thanks in advance

In a clutch

Hey thump, you didn't mention if it is hard to get it in any other gears as well. If it is then your clutch may not be releasing all the way. Can you get it into reverse without it constantly grinding?
You might try bleeding the slave cylinder if it is hard to get in all gears...
If it is only hard to get into second gear you have a tranny problem.
The "Slave" cyl is located inside the bell housing and the throw out bearing is part of it. It should have been replaced when they did the clutch. ohterwise you have to pull the tranny to replace it.

Its hard to get into all gears. I can put it in gear with the truck shut off without a prob. Its only when it is running when i have the prob. I was told to try bleeding the slave today as well. I dont dare try to get it home from work there it sits waiting for me to fix it. Well my wife got all the work done when i was overseas and now we are seeing that the work that was said was done wasent. They were supossed to change all the fluids and when i checked my trany fluid it was black as night so we see that that didnt get changed so i would assume that the trow out didnt get changed either so looks like i have some work to do within the next week. thanks for the help.

other options

You also may have a bad clutch master cylinder.
Look under the dash and see where the pushrod from the clutch goes through the firewall and see if it is wet around it
Also try pumping the clutch pedal 5-6 times and see it it will go into gear w/o out problems.
