I have a 2000 ranger with a 4.0L auto. It leaks just alittle bit from the rear of the transmission. I need to get this fixed before shipping it to Germany. Would I need to replace the bearing and a seal or can I get away with just doing the seal? I havent really looked at it yet but I am seeing something similar to an axle shaft seal. I'm pretty much a novice at this so any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

The tailshaft seal is easy enough to replace, but make sure it is the source. Speedo cable/speed sensor seals can leak also.

I know it is definitely right around the rear seal. I did a far amount of driving in the sand when I was in Nebraska and I dont think my seals were happy. I got sent to Germany before I could get a good enough look at it. its leaking from right under the driveshaft, just enough to fail a vehicle inspection in Germany.
