transmission issues,

ive got a 94 ranger 4.0l 4wd 5spd, and i have a couple of issues, first is that the truck doesnt hold first gear, if i dont hold it in gear it falls out. Which i believe is excessive wear on the shift fork.......second and this just strated today, i have a whine thats is in first, second and reverse. goes away when i depress the clutch or shift to 3-5. the whine gets louder with rpm increase.....Im not sure whats going on, it started after about a mile down the road towards home for lunch.......

the tranny leaks a little, so im gonna check fluid level.....but could that be it......

update, transmission makes whine noise in 1st, 2nd, and reverse clutch in or out.......

another update, its fluid level is good, i found a tranny for it, so im gonna swap then pop this one open to see what is up....im guessing its bearing noise......
