So after swapping the engine, I now have anew issue, bit by bit I'm just making a new truck.

So I have had like a chuggin feeling from the car in drive until it gets going. I did a filter and drain and fill of the transmission when I first got it. On the advice from people of this forum and a Ford Mech. I filled it with Mercon V., there was alot of debate on this as this site says dextron II (http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/TransmissionFluid.html) even tho dextron is not a ford fluid,Which confuses me because I thought a 93 ranger 4x4 had the A4DL trans? There was a long discussion of mercon or mercon V, Since ford said Mercon V was backwards compatible with Mercon and that's all they put into any of there transmission old and new.

It seemed to be working very fine and slowly the chugging got more intense, It is not the engine tho as it is running strong. Fluid level is at it's mark.

I tried to engage into drive today and I can only explain it as it wasn't a solid engage. Engine reved and it felt like it was trying to move but like brakes where engaged.

I dropped it quick into reverse for about 200 ft and then went to drive, it stared moving but still chuging. got on freeway and got home with a few stops and no issues. and once it got moving the gears shifted fine up and down.

I am aware that this is karma and yes I have it coming. any thoughts?

Honestly, It does sound like it's dying. Did you change the filter and fluid before this happened or after it started?

Yeah, sounds like the trans has internal issues.

The debate between DexIII, Merc, and MercV is a long running one that is caused mostly by copyright issues.

Think of DexIII and Merc like AC Delco 5W-30 and Motorcraft 5W-30. It's the same stuff but because it is used and sold my two different companies as their "OEM Brand" they have to put different names on it. That is why you can go to IdiotZone or Squal-Mart and buy quarts of "Dex/Merc".

Ford Says Merc V is backwards compatible, and I have never had an issue from using it in Merc application, but I have heard of other people who start having issues after using Merc V in their older stuff.

It started happening after I let Leeswabe do the tires and change all the brakes etc.

SWEET, turns out the rear brake broke lose and got jammed up, runs fine now. Thanks guys

Glad it's fixed.
