Anyone know where I can look up or can tell me the bolt size for my transmission fluid pan? I could take one off and match it at the store but I wouldn't mind a on-line reference for these types of questions.

Thanks.

Assuming a V6~4.0L~SOHC Engine & 5r55e Tranny?
FactoryOE 5r55e TrannyPans FlangeBolts are 8mmDiam*1.25mmThrd*13mmLong*13mmHxHd*18each.
FactoryOE 5r55e TrannyPans do not come with a DrainBung+PlugBolt.
AfterMark 5r55e TrannyPans DrainBungs+PlugBolts are 14mmDiam*1.5mmThrd*20mmLong, same as Engines OilDrain.
Hope this helps.

Yeah, sorry guys.... 2009 Ranger FX4

I still want know the size but it looks like I have a leak near the rear of the pan (by the transmission support beam) but I think it is coming from the seal right above the pan. Hopefully that will give a general area to my concerns. How well does transmission sealant work before I can get it into the shop?

Oil leak sealers are a crap shoot. It takes them awhile to work if they are going to work at all. They have chemicals in the sealer that attacks the rubber seals and makes them swell.

Why don't try to snug up the pan bolts some to make sure they are tight? Don't overdo it and bend the pan. Just grip your ratchet over the head with one hand and tighten it that way. If you are not sure where the leak is coming from, take a can of brake cleaner and clean it all up. Then drive it and keep a better check on where the oil is coming from.

How much fluid is it using? Just a little bit of oil is all it takes to make a big mess. If it has dirt stuck to the oil, it's not a large leak.

Understood. I was living with a small leak in the transfer case - it was just causing a mess underneith but not staining the driveway. This time, it left a decent stain after being driven for 120 miles. Where it was leaking, I thought it was the gasket (I changed it in summer of 21) and thought I might have screwed something as easy as this up. So last night, I changed the gasket again and let it sit overnight. A larger, different, stain was seen this morning. I tighten up the bolts more (and snapped one on the other end of the pan, hence my original question). But, there is a noticible leak now. I will go out and take a picture of my collection to give an idea of how much over time.

So the one picture (153923) is the collection of fluid over 1 hour 40 minutes.
The second picture (154023) is trying to show the leak from underneith the pan with the pan bolts to the right.
The final picture (154112) is trying to show the leak from the side.

to me, the leak is coming from above the pan now. but that would mean the seal is gone from that part (which I don't know the name for). I am thinking the additive could seal this part and it allows me to make a decision on to get it fixed or sale it. I figure this is a $1500 job (but I expect to be surprised in a bad way). What do you think?

That's a pretty good drip. I would clean it up with brake cleaner, and then run it in the driveway and then turn it off and get under there with a good flash light.

Some leaks will be worse with the engine running, some will be worse with the fluid hot and the engine off. A leak on a cooler fitting will be worse running. A leak around the pan or the dipstick will be worse when it's stopped because the oil level in the pan is higher with the engine off.
