ok, my '91 explorer has the electric T case that doesn't work, took the motor apart and it looks fine, no clicking wherever the control module is, and have replaced the buttons and checked fuses, which to me sounds like the control module, but I had another question, has anyone tried hard wiring a momentary switch to the shift motor? if you have a dual pole dual throw momentary switch it's pretty easy to wire a motor to run both directions, could this work accurately enough? I'm sure you would have to stop when shifting instead of being able to do it on the fly (having it work is better than having it useless). Just wanted to run that idea by more people.
my other idea is to strip the motor out of the shift motor and have a cable shift the transfer case using the large gear as a pulley and using a piece of music wire or aircraft cable since it will have to pull and push. I have a metal lathe and other fun stuff that would help this project along, also have an extra shift motor that I would use for this project
I haven't had the hardest time finding manual cases, but it's effort cutting the carpet and stuff, not to mention the $120 price of the case...
