Transfer case swap

i want to put a manual transfer case in my truck , and i have a couple questions

1. Will a manual T-Case off of a M5OD bolt up to a 4R44E

2. Will i have to cut a hole in my floorboard to install it

Does your specific 4R44E have the mounting pillars for the shifter on the extension housing of the trans? some do not.



No you will not need to cut a hole in the floor, there is a removeable plate in the floor through which BOTH a manual trans shifter and a manual T-case shifter are meant to
go.

THE issue you are likely to encounter is compatibility with the front t-case output.

Your 2000 truck uses a six bolt round flange that couples to a Rezeppa type CV joint.
Most manual 13-54 T-cases will have a "half moon" flange that mates to a Double cardan type CV joint.

However most people who seriously wheel 1998-up Rangers have nothing good
to say about the Rezeppa type CV and there is another way.

The half moon yoke 13-54 T-case from a 1990-up Ranger explorer
will work perfectly with the front driveshaft from a 1995-96 Explorer.
thses use the SLA-torsion bar front suspension yet still used a half moon
yoke and a Double-Cardan CV at the T-case end of the front driveshaft.


Locate one of those driveshafts and you are good to go.
