When I hit a pot hole I heard a loud bang that is directly underneath the console. I thing the transfer case is hitting directly underneath. I wondering if the engine mounts are wore and cause the everything thing to move to much? Does anyone have any ideas whats could be. You hit the brakes pretty hard when it starts doing that. When you are cruising along and let off the gas and get back up it feels like the whole drive train is really loose. The truck is a 92 4.0l 4x4 5sp ext cab ranger.

You have a busted shock most likely, or you bottom it out on the pothole. My wifes car does that when we hit bad holes. The other possible answer would be a busted motor mount. But I doubt it. Have your shocs/struts checked.

that is your answer......check the motormounts and the tranny mount as well

could also be that the crossmember has rusted out......

Another likely possibility is sagged cab mounts that has allowed the cab to settle down over the t-case and on a bump the rear output flange touches the underside of the body.

When this happens i leaves a witness mark only about the size of a fingernail clipping.

The motor mount on the driver side is good, looks like the passenger side is a B!tch to get at as you need to remove the exhaust manifold. I think it is fine. I put a pry bar on it seems the same as the other side. I replace the tranny mount and you can still lift the trans up a couple of inches. How much is it sub post to move?

Radius arm bushing anyone?!?

^^^ it could be that my truck rattled bad when mine were bad

Still making that sound? It also does this when the back end starts bouncing like climbing a hill and spinning out? To loud I think for exhaust to be hitting? Anyone else got an ideas? I can't 4x4 the truck very hard as it sound like something is coming through the cab? scares the sh!t out of you its so loud.

check the radius arm bushings....

I replaced the radius arm bushing last year. They look good and the nut is tight.
