trans work?

Call them and inquire about what "trans work" means. Persoanlly I couldnt tell you anything about that tranny. Maybe call a few local shops and get price quotes on what it costs to rebuild that tranny or do what the current owner says is "bad"

ALWAYS expect the worst when it comes to trannys. i bet you it needs a full rebuild. just my .02

WHICH transmission?

There are two possibilities:
Automatic = E4OD and other than a Ford Reman installed by ford
I wouldn't truse anyone to work on one.

Manual = M5HD, aka the "ZF" 5sp and internal parts cost like they are
cast of pure gold, if you can find another one as an "organ donor"...
and only a 7.5trans need apply, the internals are different in the
4.9/5.8 version of the trans (gear ratio differences)

I would say more than likely it'll need a full rebuild, not a bad price for the truck, but expect to pay around 2k or more for a tranny rebuild,Mine cost me 2500 bucks with an upgraded dual disc billet torque converter.
If i'm not mistaken, isnt that the IDI 7.3?
Also, i know here in ohio(i own a 1 ton f350 superduty) every year i need to get a new sticker for the truck, i have to pay 90 bucks since they consider a 1 ton a commercial vehicle even though it is not.

What the hell did they use it for? Those are really tuff trucks. Keep looking... I know I would.
