trans wont come out

I had a 1991 3.0 5 speed manual and I was able to remove the transmission with the y pipe in place by turning the transmission basically upside down. Should have removed the o2 sensor though...learning as you live sho gets expensive...

from what i can see im not hung up on anything ...if i allow the trans to lower down the engine hits the firewall before i come close to hitting the radius cross member.....

im not understanding about hitting the firewall and pinch welding it....what does that do to help pull the trans loose

Your gonna have to mess with it. trust me I have gone through this process and it ain't easy or fun. What i would do it just keep on twisting and pulling it and shake it. If it pours transmission fluid, don't be afraid to get dirty. That is a sign that it is ready to pop out. Your gonna have to put fresh transmission fluid into it anyways. But other than that, get the end of the transmission pointing up while you tug on it. What you should do when you get the transmission out is replace the y pipe and maybe get a new catalytic convertor. I didn't do it, but if yours is rusted out, that would be a good time to do it while you have the space to do it. I have the clutch replacement process on my build thread. You sure are welcome to get on it. If your have any questions, let me know!

thanks for all your replies but the error was on my end....i didnt see the top 2 bolts once i took them out the trans came loose however the y pipe and radius cross member did need to come out
