I need some help trying to figure out if I can do what I want with the below info.
I have a 94 Ranger, 3.0L engine, 2 wheel drive, auto. As a project I would like to make it a 4x4 manual. I have already swapped out the chassis with a 4x4 frame which I POR 15 it all up. I have a buddy that has a 95 with a 3.0L engine, 4x4, manual he is just using for parts and scrap (I used it’s frame). He will let me take its manual trans with transfer case and any of the fly wheels that attach to the engine and just about any part I need.
I have a guy who is offering me a good deal on a 94 Ranger with a 2.3L engine, manual trans 4x4. I know the trans will not work, neither will the computer.
My question is, can I use the 95 trans and any parts from it, with the 2.3L ranger’s wiring harness for the trans along with my current 3.0L engine and it’s wiring?
The computer I will see about picking up from a parted out ranger or just buy new.
Or am I better off waiting for a 3.0L, 4x4 manual on craigslist?
My free time will be limited soon, so if I can do what I want with this then I’ll do it. Also I know this site says the 95 trans doesn’t go with a 94, yet they look the same. I don’t know the reason why and hoping for a way around it.
