mine normally runs in the 150-180 range, but has been up to 200+ before

well my trans. starts blowing fluid out the front seal when i start beating on the truck. i can drive like a grandma all day and its fine but when i get on it it starts to shoot fluid out the front. i checked the pan temp. with a digital thermometer gun my brother had and the temp was about 190 when it would shoot the fluid out. My A4LD did the same thing. i let it cool down for about 20 minutes and it is fine. Could my trans. cooler be restricted or plugged??? the transmission was rebuilt not to long ago. and it has done it ever since.
Thanks

I would contact the company who did the rebuild, sounds like its something internal, you could try flushing the lines by disconnecting and blowing air, but it is definitely a restriction...

it wasnt a company, it was a ford tech who did it in his garage, he is more than happy to help but we are both lost as to why it is doing it so i wondered if anyone here might know before we pull the tranny back out.

If it was a Ford Tech have him do a pressure test before you pull the trans, this will tell you if its in the trans or if its the lines...Also, visually inspect the lines to the radiator and cooler if equipped to make sure no lines are pinched shut

I think we have it figured out. I feel like an idiot. The dipstick wasnt in all the way so ive been over filling the transmission!!!!! Sometimes I even amaze myself with how dumb i can be!!!

At least you found the problem and it was a cheap one :icon_thumby:

Well my day just got ruined, after 4 days of driving about 75 miles a day with no problems, it started leaking again. When it leaks it is a very slow drip at idle, when you rev it up the drip speeds up a little and when you let off the throttle a bunch gushes out and then it slows back down to the slow drip. There did seem to be an issue with the cooler either. I also Checked and the temp was only about 180 degrees so its not like it was getting to hot. WHAT THE HELL DO I DO NOW??? Im about This ][ close to trading this thing off on a fullsize!!!

Sounds like the pump bushing has spun. Once that happens, the converter won't stay centered to the seal.
