hey guys. bought my son a 1988 ranger a few months back with a blown up 2.9, bought a new 2.9, runs great, having problems with the 4ld trans, front seal started leaking, replace the seal. works great, no leaks, think the trans is burnt now, slipping pretty bad when it gets warm. my question is, found a 83 ranger 4 cylinder truck, that has a 4 speed trans, will the bell housing bolu to the 2.9. know clutch pedal will have to be installed as well as the clutch master and slave cylinders thanks for your replies

2.8, 2.9 and 4.0L all share the same bellhousings.

The rest are different.

thanks

wow, that was a quick reply. figured i would have to change the bellhousing, salvage yards here we go thanks again

deceided to rebuild the automatic, have a friend that owns a trans shop here in guyton, he can build the auto for about as much as i would spend in parts figure 700.00

did find another parts truck, blown motor and trans, thinking of building another toy,, 302 pumped to a 347 would be fun for an old man. did a pro street camaro a few years back, had a 388 stroker, no spray with 620 to the tires, bust time on that one was 5.82 ran 6.20 constistent, miss those days
